What happened during the conference?
I met with the Superintendent for my school district on
Tuesday, July 3, 2012. We scheduled a
meeting to discuss my internship plan and my long-term goals and ideas
regarding the Lamar program. The meeting
took place in his office. As we spoke,
he gave me some good ideas to help enhance my internship plan. As I had written thirty-eight activities, he
was good with each. He simply gave me a
bit of insight on how to take action on the activities and who might be able to
help me best complete the internship plan.
Highlights…..
We spoke for the majority of the meeting about the school
board and finances. The school board is
an area in which I am not too familiar.
I know the basic workings of the meetings, but not much about the
executive sessions or the political factors in dealing with the community and
the school board members. We also spent
a large portion of the time talking about finances, including budgeting,
grants, and federal money. Knowing the
financial situation of a district is crucial to a good superintendent.
Needed changes and/or revisions…….
The district superintendent did not make any major changes
to my internship plan. He simply gave my
ideas on how to expand and conquer the individual activities.
